CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Sterling silver jewelry can naturally tarnish over time in reaction to the wear and tear of everyday life.To prevent it from oxidizing, follow the care instructions below:

Water

It is recommended to remove jewelry while showering, being in a swimming pool, while in the sea, hot tub, etc.

Pure water alone doesn't damage sterling silver, but most of the water we're exposed to in our daily lives is not purified. Chemicals and contaminants in the water can result in tarnished-looking silver.

However, not doing so will not necessarily cause lasting damage to the silver, but will result in needing to remove the tarnishing more regularly, as a result of the oxidization.

Perfumes

Chemicals in lotions and perfumes can cause your jewelry to tarnish.
Apply them first, let them dry, and then put your jewelry on.

The silver may become oxidized in reaction to the natural acids in your skin or the moisture from perspiration.

Sports

Take off your jewelry before you perform any sports as sweat causes silver to tarnish.

Storage

Wipe your jewelry before storing it. Moisture could cause tarnishing.
Store your silver jewelry in an airtight box, zipped plastic bag,  or anti-tarnishing wooden box to preserve it for a longer time.

Well-treated wood prevents moisture buildup, and it also provides a small amount of insulation for your jewelry.
Velvet, satin, silk, and cotton are great solutions for the lining of your jewelry box.

Important: Do not keep your jewelry in a bathroom, due to the large humidity level, your jewelry will tarnish quicker.

Cleaning

You can always renew your silver jewelry’s appearance and bring it back to its original color by using a silver polishing cloth.

The polishing cloth should never be laundered since that will remove the polishers that are impregnated within the cloth.

My favorite DIY solution is gently brushing silver jewelry pieces with toothpaste and a soft toothbrush with a small amount of water.
